What are some of your favorite summer movie experiences?
MoreWhat are your favorite movie endings of all time?
MoreJim and Teal kick off this episode with the time-honored tradition of seeing two movies, back-to-back. Jim worshiped drive-in double features. For Teal, watching two movie rentals at the video store was his passion. What is your favorite way to view a double bill? What if a double feature is thematically linked, but one is so clearly an inappropriate match, it’s a challenge to watch them one after the other? Need some help thinking of pairs? Don’t worry: Jim and Teal have you covered. Spend an hour with Jim and Teal, laughing along at their cringe-worthy pairings. These couplings may make you laugh, but you will be hard pressed to disagree; these are inappropriate double features all the way. Listen to the episode and then send us your comments as to what you think makes a great inappropriate double-feature.
MoreThis week Jim and Teal take on the re-imagining of a horror film classic, Suspiria. Is Dakota Johnson up to the task of filling Jessica Harper’s dance shoes? But before that, our two intrepid podcasting heroes discuss the second highest-grossing film in China, The Wandering Earth. How does it compare with Hollywood big-budget sci-fi disaster flicks? Speaking of disaster, Jim rants about the new Godzilla movie, and wonders how they could mess up the formula so bad. In between, Jim and Teal squeeze in some other recommendations, and dis-recommendations, before finally stopping over at the El Royale for some Bad Times. Or maybe there are some good times. Take a listen and find out for yourself.
MoreJim and Teal’s discussion of Rock & Roll-themed movies and musical biopics continues with Jim’s recollections of seeing The Rocky Horror Picture Show as a teenager. In typical fashion, Jim and Teal veer off course with discussions of working at the video store and movie theater as impressionable youths. They still have time to talk about This is Spinal Tap and A Hard Days night. Enjoy this second part of Rock & Roll movie fun. Go back and listen to the beginning of their discussion with the previous episode if you have not already done so.

MoreJim and Teal tackle the final installments of two global phenomenons, and the third chapter of a new one. Helping out is Jim and Teal’s special guest, Michael McQuilkin. Next up, is a trip back to 1982 where the Skeksis’ screech, and arms are ripped off faster than you can say, Nastassja Kinski. Finally, why did one franchise ending, The Avengers, receive universal fan acclaim, while another, Game of Thrones met with fan furor? One series that does please the boys is John Wick. What’s John got up his sleeve that’s so appealing? Get ready for one exciting hour of updates, debates, laughter, and movie memories!
MoreI think I first discovered the Criterion Collection sometime in high school. I consistently went to Bull Moose (which I still claim as my second home) and perused their endless selection of DVDs. Every once in a while, I would see the bold white “C” of the Criterion logo on the spine of a film case. I was curious as to what that meant and why certain films would be embossed with this sigil of “Great Filmitude”. After scouring the internet, I felt educated enough to make some conscious choices about which Criterion-distributed films I would seek out for myself. Some films received their Will Lane Stamp of Approval and ended up somewhere in my collection for one reason or another.
